If you cannot board the vertibird in show no mercy quest.

• Go stand next to the vertibird and save the game, then quit to main menu and load your saved game

• If you cannot shoot the minigun after boarding the vertibird in the show no mercy quest.

fast travel to Diamond city, find Nick valentine and have a conversation with him. After that fast travel back to the prydwen ship and Ride the vertibird. Enjoy!
